Salt Lake battles heavy waterlogging as 50% water pumps suffer malfunction
Air India flight AI 926, operating from Riyadh to Delhi, was diverted to Jaipur International Airport late Sunday night due to severe weather conditions in the national capital. The flight, originally slated to land at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) around 1 am on July 7, was forced to reroute to Jaipur as a precautionary measure.
Upon landing in Jaipur, passengers were initially offered alternative flight options to reach Delhi. However, they collectively chose to continue their journey by road and have since disembarked and departed from Jaipur for Delhi. This incident marks another recent operational challenge for Air India.
Just days prior, on July 4, an Air India flight (AI2414) from Bengaluru to Delhi experienced a significant delay after one of its pilots suffered a medical emergency just before takeoff. The pilot, who fell ill in the cockpit, was immediately hospitalized and is currently in stable condition under medical supervision. Air India arranged for another cockpit crew member to operate the flight, which eventually departed 90 minutes behind schedule. The airline has stated that its immediate priority is the well-being of the pilot and supporting his family. These incidents come amid ongoing scrutiny of Air India's operations, following a major crash in Ahmedabad last month and subsequent allegations regarding compensation practices, which the airline has denied.
